Update September 2016
Well, it has been a busy year. Two times we had three litters born in just a few days. because we only have two farrowing stalls, this meant that the third litter was born and raised outside. This is a true test of the mothering ability of our sows. One of the litters was born to a gilt, show farrowed 11 without assistance and raised them to weaning.
We have slightly reduced our herd but will continue to breed and raise registered Berkshires. Please contact us if you are seeking breeding stock or feeder pigs.
Again in May 2016, our stock was represented at the Junior Livestock Show. Our hogs were carefully raised by two young men and the carcasses placed 3rd and 9th out of 23 exhibitors. Not only are we proud of the placings, but the carcass evaluation, which includes rate of gain, gives us valuable information about dressing percent, loin eye area, backfat, and marbling.

Update May 2015
The Spokane Junior Livestock Show for 4-H and FFA was held in May. This is the only show in Washington state with a carcass competition. We believe the carcass competition is the best measure of the success of our breeding program because it is based on the actual carcass characteristics not just on a subjective estimate of which live hog will hang the most profitable carcass. We were blessed to have two of our hogs presented by a young man at the show and one was entered in the carcass class. We were delighted to have our hog place second out of 18 in the carcass class. Our hog also had the largest loin eye area and highest dressing percent of the entire group. Congratulations to Ryan McCarty on his fine placings in each of his classes at the show.
Update October 31, 2014
Our July litter sold out quickly. We had three litters of pigs born in October. Two litters are from gilts born at Vintage Farm. They took easily to their motherly duties. Contact us if you are interested in breeding stock or feeder pigs.

Our Big Joan had a litter on Feb. 14, 2014 which was perfect timing for 4-H project pigs. Our first 4-H pigs left on Saturday, March 22. This little piglet will be a 4-H project at the Bonner County Fair in Idaho. Best of luck to all!
Update:
The 4-H pigs did well. Both gilts made weight and won blue ribbons in the market class at the Bonner County Fair. Congratulations to Alex and Rebekka for the fine work they did caring for their pigs and showing them so expertly. See pictures below.
