Lovingly raised
Nestled in the transition between rolling wheat fields and tall timber, Vintage Farm is home to a diverse array of livestock and wildlife. Located west of Spokane, Washington, the farm is our dream, a labor of love, which we want to share with our family and community. Every day we enjoy the regional views and peaceful environment. Our desire is to be more self-sufficient and to know how our food is grown. As we pursue that goal, we will also generate farm products to sell in our local community.
We raise registered Berkshire hogs. We chose the Berkshire breed for their prized meat quality. Berkshire pork is also known as Kurobuta pork and is famous for its rich, succulent flavor. Our goal is to raise the hogs with love and care, thoughtfully designing the pedigrees and providing an environment where the animals feel safe and secure. We were blessed to be able to obtain our first breeding stock from a long-time breeder in Oregon. We were further blessed to be introduced to local individuals who have helped us get established. We are starting small with an aim toward quality over quantity.
Our pigs grow up on pasture, rooting in the dirt, rolling in the mud. We do not farrow in crates. Our sows have proven to be conscientious mothers who carefully tend to their young. We are continually delighted by the antics and curious nature of the pigs.
We have become increasingly concerned with the safety of our food supply and have sought out feed suppliers who provide animal feed formulated without corn or soy, to reduce the threat of genetically modified grains.
We also enjoy the eggs from our heirloom chickens and raise old style Morgan Horses that are used for trail riding.
